In our design to combine the apartments, we centered the kitchen - making it a dividing line between private and public space; vastly expanding the storage and work surface area. We discovered an existing unused roof penetration to run a duct to vent out a powerful kitchen hood.
The original bathroom skylight now illuminates the central kitchen space. Without changing the standard skylight size, we gave it architectural scale by carving out the ceiling to maximize daylight.
Light now dances off the vaulted, sculptural angles of the ceiling to bathe the entire space in natural light.

This is the Casita kitchen we added for clients a few months after we finished their kitchen. Cabinets are a rustic stain in the Windswept series from Bellmont Cabinetry with a shaker door style. Breathe Design StudioOur Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom.
The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space.
In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. The large mint cabinets add a lighter touch to the space.

И мыть приходится чаще, чем это делалось раньше.
Но! Как же приятно их пылесосить и мыть!
Они гладкие, но не скользкие.
Они теплые, как паркет.
Под ними чувствуются трассы труб отопления, проложенные к радиаторам специально там, где чаще всего ходишь. Автоматически получаются теплые полы.
И - самое главное - никаких стыков между разными полами! Они и в кухне, и в спальне, и в ванной, и в гостиной. Мои любимые нарядные белые наливные полы.
Да, - и никаких плинтусов!
